Upholding All Things
“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.” Hebrews 1:1-3 NJKV
Jesus upholds all things by the word of His power. When Jesus purged our sins, He sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high. Sitting down doesn’t mean inactivity, it represents His finished work position and it is always active in the life of believers who apply faith. It is the total provision and continuous supply to receive as a gift from God. The work of Christ is finished so we can enjoy His kingdom of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. It is available to us right now (Romans 14:17)!
When we accept Jesus Christ as Savior, everything begins to change. Jesus reveals Himself to us and we start on a faith journey that has no end. Our old life is replaced with a new life of Christ by the Holy Spirit. It is a moment of discovery when real life begins (John 14:20). The more we become aware of God’s promised provisions, affirm them and act upon them, the more we will experience them.
We are not only containers of Jesus’ life, but we are expressions of Him. God’s Word becomes the motivation of our thinking, speaking and behavior. It’s the work of God as revelation takes form and shapes us. By this transformation, we are able to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit saying, “God is your source for all things. All things are possible, you have what you say, every need is met and every desire is fulfilled.” The voice of the Holy Spirit helps us live a life of victory, peace, health, confidence, challenge and adventure.
Accepting the truth that God is our source for all things is the belief that we are living in the Spirit. We know we are living in the Spirit of God when we are aware of Him living in us. We are ONE with Christ, never separated from Him (John 17:26). This idea must be meditated on so it becomes a spiritual fact of life to us, not just a feeling. We, as believers in Christ, are a special people. We do not live this human life by ourselves and in ourselves as unbelievers, but we walk and live in the Divine Spirit (Galatians 2:20, Romans 8:4). Living in relationship with God requires faith that works by love (Galatians 5:6).
The law of faith cannot be just to feel it first and then believe it. Human feelings attempt to get us concerned about meeting our needs rather than knowing God, our creator and redeemer. He has provided everything necessary for our life. See it, believe it, accept it, act like it and it activates within you!
God has designed us with a simple plan to make it easy to know Him and trust Him. Human feelings and religion can make it difficult. Here are four basic ideas from God, our Creator:
1. God wants us to know that without faith, we cannot please (agree with) Him. “But without faith it is impossible to please Him…” Hebrews 11:6
2. God wants us to believe He is God. “…for he who comes to God must believe that He is…” (vs. 6)
3. God wants us to believe He rewards those who diligently seek Him. “…and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.” (vs. 6).
4. God wants us to seek His kingdom and His righteousness first. “But seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33.
Our life is God’s idea until the personal appointed time to leave this earth. Each person must develop their own belief system (Matthew 8:13). Life is temporary, and death is by God’s appointed time. To walk by faith is to unfold His plan. He upholds us, provides for us, protects us and gives us the right people and right place at the right time. Relax in this truth and trust God in all things! When we die, we will live eternally either with God or apart from Him. It is wise, therefore, to submit our life to Jesus and spend our days following His ways, for He is the true Source of life!
Death means something else to God than it does to us. It is the end of life to humans, but it actually means we have ‘moved’ to another place. In John 14, Jesus spoke about mansions He has prepared for His believers. We understand that God, our Creator and Redeemer, has a time appointed for every matter, every purpose and every work. Knowing it will come to pass, we begin to relax and live with trust and peace in the Lord (Ecclesiastes 3:17).
Believe God is real. All things were created in Christ, through Christ and unto Christ. He is our creator, the source of our life. Allow God to uphold you by His Word without strain or struggle. It is important to understand that we are His initiative. God had an appointed time to appear on earth and He has our appointed time to leave this earth (Hebrews 9:27). Two great moments in life: Becoming born again by Jesus and leaving this earth to our heavenly home with Jesus. God’s timing is perfect and it always brings satisfaction and joy (Habakkuk 2:3). Let us rejoice because our name is written in Heaven (Luke 19:2).
