God's Gift to Us... Faith
"For (if we are) in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith activated and energized and expressed and working through love." Galatians 5:6 AMP
Faith is a living, creative and powerful force that is focused on Jesus Christ. It is the confident assurance that what we want and hope for is going to happen (Hebrews 11:1). Faith is not something we can acquire on our own, it is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8). Faith is cultivated through fellowship with the Father and His Word by the Holy Spirit in us. Fellowship is quality time spent alone with God and getting to know Him; through it we develop trust and enhance our faith. God given faith is the connection with the invisible for our total provision and continuous supply.
The only thing that releases the provision of peace into our lives is faith that works by love. Faith is given by God’s unconditional love. It gives the revelation of mercy, opening up God’s grace into our lives and giving us the ability to live by faith. “…the just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:17. The just refers to those who believe and receive Jesus Christ as their personal Savior; they are counted as the righteousness of God.
Scripture explains the characteristics of unconditional love as patient, kind, rejoicing in truth and righteousness, not proud or boasting, is not rude, is not selfish, is not resentful and does not keep track of wrongs. Unconditional love is quick to believe the best, it loves justice and love never fails (I Corinthians 13:4-8). Without the revelation of love, attempting to be obedient to God’s Word is deceiving, causing others to feel unimportant and rejected. It is unprofitable. We are to accept His unconditional love by faith and then release the same principle of love toward others (Galatians 6:2). As we express God’s unconditional love, it returns multiplied.
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him…” Hebrews 11:6. It requires revelation to take the words ‘please Him’ and replace it with the words ‘agree with Him’. God is already pleased with us because of Jesus Christ; we are accepted by Him (Ephesians 1:6). God is able to work in us to do His good pleasure when we agree with Him through His Word. The only requirements are to be in agreement with His Word and give Him permission to fill our lives with Himself, the Holy Spirit.
There is a fine line in the human mind between living in the Spirit by the hearing of faith or doing something to feel close to God. Religion exploits the human need to improve. Humans are easily addicted to performance rather than relying on faith. Religion says we need to do things to be close to God. Jesus says, “Take My yoke and do things because you are close to God. Any attitude of legalism or self-righteousness slowly destroys us.
God operates in faith and we are to exercise that same kind of faith. Faith comes by hearing and speaking the Word (Romans 10:17). If we don’t know what God has promised in His Word, we don’t have any basis for faith. In order to bring forth what we are believing for (the unseen) into reality, we must know what God says in His Word, believe what God says in His Word, say God’s Word in a personal, present-tense way and apply God’s Word in our lives. As we meditate on the promises, they become more and more real to us. The spirit of faith within becomes bold enough to speak the Word in power.
The fulfillment of every promise from God is available to all believers in Christ who, by the Holy Spirit, have revelation of how to mix God’s Word with faith. The Word of God will not profit without the application of faith. In the name of Jesus we can take authority over adverse situations in our lives and see things change. We have been empowered by the indwelling Holy Spirit and the words of God have authority. Faith that is convinced of God performing His word we speak, gives us rest, calmness, boldness and confidence.
By revelation, we know the Holy Spirit is in us and is subject to the word of faith (Romans 10:8). The need for speaking faith words in order to activate the Holy Spirit in us will never end on earth. It is important to reaffirm God’s promises everyday by faith so that the Holy Spirit remains active in us. By the practice of speaking God’s Word, it enables us to achieve the life God intended. His Word will come to pass!
