The Holy Spirit is for Our Personal Profit
“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.” I Corinthians 12:7
The Holy Spirit is given to us to profit. When we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, the Holy Spirit enters our body and begins to change us. The Holy Spirit moves by faith according to our belief system as we release Him to be in us what we cannot be and do in us what we cannot do.
There are secrets to operating with and in the Holy Spirit’s power. Many beliefs are based on family traditions, prejudices, ‘invisible’ voices of society, old hurts, disappointments, medical research and personality types. Unless we have revelation of the Spirit, we may accept our unenlightened beliefs as a normal part of life. It is important to develop a new belief system. Without challenging our old beliefs, we continue to sow negative seeds, reaping destruction. Living according to God’s Word is a normal way of life. Living from humanistic beliefs is abnormal.
After we receive new life in Christ Jesus, we must ‘put off’ whatever belongs to our earthly nature; old sinful attitudes, passions and behaviors. Paul tells us to ‘put on’ the new person in Christ, which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness of the truth (Ephesians 4:24). The new nature we receive from Christ is ever renewed in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior.
Christianity is not a series of giving-up. It is new life. Christ adds so much to our lives that there is no room for the old things. Let us forever ‘put off’ the old nature. It is possible in Christ! Let us ‘put on’ the excellence of the new life; tenderness, kindness, humility, patience, forgiveness and love. Paul says these virtues are like pieces of clothing, all held in place by a belt of love that fills our lives with the peace of God (Colossians 3:12-14).
The Holy Spirit is Our Profit
We have a supernatural ability to live in a calm state of mind as a container of God’s glory. Peace is a personal gift from God which is our power. At times, maintaining our peace can be a moment by moment choice in responding to people or events by the Holy Spirit power. Time, awareness and practice releases the Holy Spirit to be our strength in the face of ‘whatever’. I observe, adapt and overcome. I am more than a conqueror in all things through Christ who loves me (Romans 8:37).
Allow the Holy Spirit to be your ability to express unconditional love (John 13:34). God’s unconditional love is a high calling and a high revelation. His love is patient, kind, rejoicing in truth and righteousness, not proud or boastful, it is not rude, is not selfish, is not resentful and does not keep track of wrongs. God’s love is quick to believe the best, it loves justice and it never fails (I Corinthians 13:4-5). The characteristics of God’s love are orders to ‘put on’ as the elect of God.
Mercy helps us to see others differently. Putting on mercy stops the old way of viewing others from a judgmental, prejudice viewpoint to a viewpoint of love, respect and value. People are the riches of God.
Kindness is walking with the Lord in goodness, integrity, generosity and seeking the highest good in others. Kindness to ourselves, people, animals and nature is a natural way of life.
Humbleness of mind is realizing that we can do nothing without Christ, we are nothing without love and God owes us nothing (I Corinthians 13:1-3). The revelation of humility opens the door of grace. It makes us look independent, but on the inside we know we are dependent on God.
Meekness is the strength of the Lord; there is nothing to prove, explain or defend.
Long suffering is a high level of patience that understands we contain the God of all patience (Romans 15:5). Let patience have its perfect work in you so you lack nothing (James 1:4).
Forgiveness is being gracious. It does not hold others to the past and it is a no-offense lifestyle. Forgiveness is a natural way of life.
Love from God is the solid rock for us to love Him and express unconditional love. Love is the bond of unity that keeps everything in perfect harmony. Love Christ and enjoy Him. Love yourself and enjoy yourself. Love others and enjoy them!
