Do You Know
"Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin." Romans 6:6
'Crucified' is executed; put to death; kill by nailing to a cross. 'Body of sin' is the original sin. 'Serving' sin leads to death. Our Lord Jesus Christ paid for Adam's sin and every sin caused under its influence. A believer in Christ is redeemed. Redemption is brought back on the auction stage; given a paper saying 'never a slave again; taken to the edge of the city and let go'. We are no longer subject to the law of sin and death. "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." Romans 8:2.
Adam's sin is the source of every sin (fear, anger, greed, lust, jealousy etc). The hidden part that destroys is the drive to 'try' harder to be better or 'find' ourselves. Much of human living is for appearance: what will people think?
Statements that appear normal in society are not normal within a life of faith: I'm doing the best I can; I'm not perfect; I've always been shy and insecure; Someday I'll be happy; This makes me so mad; Nothing good comes to stay. These ideas come from the original sin. When we have the revelation that these are false ideas, dead, not real, we are able to remove its clutches and call into life the perfection that is already there, seated with Christ at God's right hand (Ephesians 2:5-6).
God saw us as holy and blameless in life before the foundation of the world. "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Matthew 5:48. The new nature of the Holy Spirit is discovered by voice activation. 'Perfect' is our heavenly position, not based on our behavior. "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." II Corinthians 5:17. These scriptures are in Aorist-tense which reveals a decisive break with the old life at Jesus' death and resurrection. Jesus Christ gives us power over the old original sin; we are in a already perfect power position. Through the Spirit we live in a body overcoming human limitations. Did you know this?
Do you know the original sin is already dead? Do you know that you are a new person in Christ? Lord Jesus Christ, I am sorry for trying hard to be something that I already am. I accept Your forgiveness and declare I am redeemed and empowered to live as me. I say it to be so! Amen.
Do You Know?
1. Jesus paid the complete price for Adam's original sin; it does not exist except in our memory. We may have grown accustomed to live in old hurts, anger and fear. Do you know this or do you allow yourself to go down the 'control me' road? The key to operating in the choice of death position or life position is to recognize that the old sin nature is already defeated by Jesus. Say NO to sin by Jesus Christ's name and YES to God's Word by the Spirit. Do not try to deal with the sin nature. "But now ye put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth." Colossians 3:8. "And have put on the new man..." Colossians 3:10. This is the life of faith on earth!
2. The Holy Spirit designed Himself to live in us as our constant helper (Hebrews 13:6). Every provision of every promise is in the Holy Spirit; He is the blessing of Abraham (Galatians 3:14). The Holy Spirit is available to be released by faith to make all things possible. Be aware, affirm and live as if He is our total strength, guidance and health provision. The body we live in is not us and it is not ours (Corinthians 3:16-17). The Holy Spirit is the real Christian in the temple we live in with Him. What a privilege to live with the Holy Spirit of God all the time!
3. Because of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit girds us with strength and makes all things possible. "...Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?" John 11:40. What a great thing to know, accept and act upon. Amen!
