The Skill of Right Speaking
"A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!" Proverbs 15:23
Words are a creative force; abundant life, the future and the power of being a channel of God's riches are in our mouth. There is a sense of a divine, supernatural power in our inmost being beyond anything we experience when we speak words of faith and love. Jesus tells us that we are justified (to have the things we desire) by speaking the right words (Matthew 12:37). We can have all of God's good by our faith statements based on His Word. Speak God's Word, train our mind to think upon God's Word and His Word becomes a major part of our life.
God's Word says our words are powerful and significant. They are to be like gold, valuable and attractive in a way that is perfectly fitted to the circumstance. 'Apples of gold in pictures of silver' is an idiom for the perception of abundance. An Old Testament faith law says if we do not serve the Lord with joyfulness and gladness of heart for the abundance of all things, we will be controlled by enemies (Deuteronomy 28:47). How we see things and what we call things are either the path of blessings or the path of consequence. Right choices, with the right attitude, create our true destiny of life, health and peace. Wrong choices create a future of consequences.
Prayer is the mightiest force in the universe; it signifies the highest method of communication with God. It is His path to hope, joy, endurance and love. Prayer is talking with God, listening to God and enjoying His presence. We experience relationship with God through prayer.
The quality of our prayers determines the quality of our relationship with God. Prayer is not saying words nor is it making meaningless repetitions of words as we pray (Matthew 6:7). We need to learn that there is an effective method of prayer. The more we practice praying, the more the Lord reveals to us how to pray; the eyes of our understanding are opened, we see the release of God's provided provision coming through words fitly spoken. The Holy Spirit is our inside ability to have revelation and the motivation to think right and speak right.
Two individuals had something painfully wrong in their bodies. One went to be alone and continually cried to God to be healed. Without any change, they accepted the physical pain was their lot in life. The other person discovered healing was already provided by Jesus' stripes. They prayed, "I am healed, restored, and renewed. I receive this health provision now." Several years later, the person who continually prayed for healing experienced failing health. The other person with the 'receiving' prayer was walking in the provision of health, life and peace. We live by perception and choice which is the source of how we use words. This truth is difficult to the flesh memory, but it is joyful to the Holy Spirit when we allow the Holy Spirit to be our strength.
Words from the Bible
1. The choice of life or death is in our tongue (Proverbs 18:20-21, I Peter 3:10-11, Proverbs 15:23). Choose life giving words and discover a new sense of fulfillment. Nothing happens until we say so! It is better not to speak when there is a driving emotion. I call it repress and release; keep it to yourself and release it to God (I Peter 5:7). We attract more of what we want if we speak constructive words!
2. Speaking faith words is like a career; it doesn't end while living on earth (Psalm 32:3). There is 'no there'. If you hear yourself say, "I used to do that", ask, "Why did I stop?" We stop doing what works when we experience disappointment, allowing challenge to hope. When hope is buried, it causes an inward shift, going from creative urges to the need for sensual pleasures. Non-released seeds of disappointment are buried time bombs; overindulgence of good, overconsumption of alcohol, misusage of smoking or prescription drugs are all cover-ups and eventually become physical pain (Matthew 12:37). A middle aged person told me they wasted their life by the emotional demand of acceptance. They abused alcohol and cigarettes to cover the pain, resulting in several diseases. When they experienced the revelation that Jesus paid the price for sin and sin is defeated, they claimed more suffering. I told them it's not too late to start again, to challenge their thinking and speaking by calling it fun and to release the past to the Lord. "...what have I here, saith the Lord, that my people is taken away for nought? They that rule (believing in nothing) over them make them to howl (complain), saith the Lord; and my name continually every day is blasphemed (deny His power)" Isaiah 52:5. Speak faith words. God's Word is reality! If not now... then when? If not you... then who? Why not get started!
Words Fitly Spoken
Lord Jesus Christ, You in me by the Holy Spirit, You are my shepherd. I am safe and secure. You are my strength, my fortress and my shield. No evil can come or stay in my dwelling place. I have angels given charge over me to keep me in all my ways. You are my source, my strength, my peace, my power, my plenty and my purpose. Thank you. Because of You, I am saved, whole, sound and strong. Amen.
