A Flexibility Cause... High Faith
"If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up." Daniel 3:17-18
Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego spoke from a high level of faith that is a challenge to explain or practice. They were ordered by King Nebuchadnezzar to worship a golden image, but refused to do so. Because of their disobedience, they were given the death penalty, burning to death in a fiery furnace.
The 'if not' is a high level of flexibility faith. We are called to be choosers. "Beloved, think it not strange concerning some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice..." I Peter 4:12-13. Rejoicing is the first choice for everything and anything. We choose to rejoice based on God's Word, not feelings.
God always answers prayer and God always says YES (II Corinthians 1:20). Human opinions that are based on past disappointments believe God really doesn't answer all prayers and He doesn't always say 'yes'. Some people have a list where they believe God said 'no'. The way out of this belief is to begin to believe what looks like a 'no' is really God's greater 'yes'. For every delay, there is a bigger and better answer on its way. God's greater good follows us and will crowd into our life when we believe His answer is always 'yes'. 'No' beliefs that are based on past disappointing experiences or faulty religious teachings keep the door closed to God's best. Why do we give our opinions so much power? Past opinions based on lack is a god. Why not believe God's Word is new every morning? He is our God of NOW! Now is the moment of choice and power. Meditate on Lamentations 3:21-26, allowing His words to become part of your belief system; we have hope in the Lord because His mercies are new every morning, He is our portion (provision), He is a good and He is our salvation.
Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego practiced their flexibility faith because they knew if they went into the furnace, God would be with them. It is important to believe that once we accept Jesus as our Savior, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us and He is ALWAYS our helper. There are times when we make plans, but life happens, and life can overshadow those plans. The 'flexibility cause' is the ability to take unexpected surprises into our lives without getting disappointed, resentful, bitter or fearful. When a delay or change occurs, we are to worship God in Spirit and Truth, doing everything to the glory of God (John 4:23, Colossians 3:17). This challenge is another worship service to the Lord Jesus Christ. I do this with an attitude of great joy!
High Level Flexibility in Faith
1. Although God said we would have what we say, God has bigger and better plans for us. We say what we want like we already have it and God releases Ephesians 3:20 over our wants and needs. "Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass." Psalm 37:5.
2. Choose an uplifted attitude. Meet everything with great grace, thanking the Lord for ALL things. I can't wait to see the good that comes to me through this (Romans 8:28).
3. Fast the urge to discuss past hurtful experiences. Talking about the past, other than God's victories, is not scriptural (Isaiah 43:18). Past hurtful experiences that have been released can resurface.
4. The greatest potential for a flexible attitude is receiving the revelation that we don't need to have our way, we don't need to control, we don't need to be afraid or fear and we don't need to be right. We confidently know we are on the right road of God's plan; walking on the road of health, peace, prosperity and power!
Thank you Lord Jesus Christ that by Your name I am flexible, whole, strong and sound. I say it to be so. Amen.
