The Will of God... Be Thankful
"In everything, give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." I Thessalonians 5:18
Giving thanks in all things is God's will for you. Thankfulness is an attitude; it is a statement of your innermost being knowing that all things work together for our good (Romans 8:28). Discovering the joy and power of a thankful attitude comes from your learning experiences. You are to be thankful always, not allowing circumstances to cause thanksgiving to cease. When you choose an attitude of thanksgiving, it affects your outlook, disposition and relationship with others. You cannot always control what happens or what comes your way, but you can choose your attitude and response.
The Holy Spirit is your ability to be thankful in all things. The urge to be thankful and have a thankful attitude is a sign of the Holy Spirit. A thankful attitude and your spoken words of faith activate the Holy Spirit to provide the provision of God's promises. Releasing the Holy Spirit by faith to be your joy is the way of transformation from being circumstance controlled. When you are walking with the Lord and experiencing Him, there is no escape from thankfulness and saying thank You for all things. Release the Holy Spirit to be your helper in choosing the way of the Lord.
Paul was talking about the sanctification of food in I Timothy 4:4-5. Sanctification is to set apart and declare holy; it is to use how it was designed. Food is designed to fuel the body and the body is designed to contain the treasure of the Lord, the Holy Spirit (I Corinthians 4:7). When you walk in the revelation of what we are designed for, you are sanctified. Accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, you are sanctified, put in your proper power position, through the offering of the body of Jesus once, for all (Hebrews 10:10). In your "contain the Lord" position, you are in the expression position of His life in you, coming out as you.
You are to be thankful and to give thanks. Take time every day, choose to think of all things and people God has blessed you with and voice thankfulness to Him. Voicing thanks helps to remind you of how blessed you are. Every day give thanks to the Lord for His mercy, grace and salvation. Give thanks for everything, every event, every situation and declare God's food to come to you through every circumstance.
